Website Construction

When this website was first started in 2004, the HTML code was written manually. Within two years, web authoring programs (HTML Editors) became more common and the KompoZer program was used to write HTML code providing a “What You See Is What You Get” interface without the need for manually writing HTML code.

KompoZer has continued to be used to maintain and add pages to this website.

This software does not have many of the features that new software has; however, it is adequate, and it is free.

KompoZer is no longer supported, yet downloads are still readily available on the internet.

This software is located on the owners’ computer at:

C:\Users\Brian\Downloads\kompozer-0.7.10-win32. A backup is kept on an off-site server.

A copy of these KompoZer files, together with other files related to this website, are kept on a USB memory stick located on the inside of the access door to the helm station’s instrument panel on M.V. Softrocker. (See  pictures  below).

Website Files

The folders and files for this website are kept on a Window PC in a folder named  softrocker.ca  A backup is kept on an off-site server.

A current list of this folder is in this PDF file: softrocker.PDF

The files are uploaded to the Host’s server using FileZilla which is available on the internet as a free download.

A copy of these files, together with other files related to this website, is kept on a USB memory stick kept on M.V. Softrocker on the inside of the access door to the helm station’s instrument panel (see below).

Using these files on a typical Windows computer, the contents of the files may be opened, offline, by clicking on the index.htm file. This gives access to the website when there is no internet access while cruising.
